ok, i’ve been a bit slack on the posts for sample suggestions… but this week had so many killers that i needed to record them for later reference. Beat junkies, you need these. All of them.
Alan Parker – Slow Drifter: a slick track with great instruments and heavy, slow drums.
Isabelle Aubret – Casa Forte: my fav, just because it’s got so many beautiful little rhythmic parts. 142 BPM, means 71, right?
Supremes – Stop in the name of love (acapella): I posted this a and two other vocals form these girls (Stoned Love, Reflections). I think people will never vote it, but it’s something that we need to do, some time.
Gloria Gaynor – Please Be There: this is where it got really tricky. Any other week this woudl be a winner, but it’s almost too obvious. But i know Travis will kill me for not putting it to the vote. Next time.
Dalida – Pars: This was the hardest not to put to the vote. I like it, a lot of other people loved it. Hell, is it too late to fix? Yeah.
Gass – Holy Woman: What an opening. Too heavy for most, but still, lots in here. Didn’t make the vote.
Omar Khorshid – Rakset el Fadaa: Weirdo guitar thang. Nowhere near the vote but hot anyway.
The Cyrkle – The Visit (She Was Here). Not a fan for samples but it’s a nice 60’s folky track.
Miriam Makeba – Samba: I fell in love with this lady, and found 4 great tracks by her, but i know people won’t do it. I’ll keep it for personal.
Huge thanks to everyone that submitted. I love this stuff. Sample selection is almost as good as beat making. Almost.
ooh and GADZOOKS, this has to be one for next week…
Syreeta – Cause we’ve ended now as lovers: simply amazing.
